HOPPINESS OVERLOAD AT THE OKTOBERFEST MÜNCHEN 2023

On September 30, 2023, we were in Fischer-Vroni (Innenraum) from 11 am to 3 pm at the Oktoberfest München, the largest Folk Festival in the World. “Ozapft is!”- “the leg is tapped” exclaims Munich’s Lord Mayor after punctually tapping the first beer barrel at 12 noon on Saturday, 18 September 2023., officially opening the 188th Munich Oktoberfest. “Magbiro ka na sa lasing, wag sa bagong gising!” True! This is one of my favorite quotes about beer drinking. “Sky’s the limit!” Beer is part of Filipino and a large part of German culture. “Ito ang Maboteng Usapan”. Beer drinking is a social interaction which we share values and attitudes. Ang sabi nga nila, “Ang taong lasing ay nagsasabi ng totoo!”. “Ang alak, ilagay sa tiyan, wag sa ulo.” Drinking beer  in Germany is about a lot more than donning a “Dirndl” and downing a “Mass” at Oktoberfest. We call it “Hoppiness Overload”. Prost!
