What is KHS Trucking? Tell us about your company, foundation and history.
KHS IS A SERVICE COMPANY IN THE TRANSPORT SECTOR, INITIALLY FOCUSED ON CONTAINER TRANSPORT SINCE 2002, EXCLUSIVELY FOR COCA COLA IN LONG-DISTANCE TRANSPORT MINDANAO AND INCLUDES THE ENTIRE ISLAND FROM BUTUAN TO ZAMBOANGA. THE COMPANY IS FOUNDED IN 10/31/2002 AND LOCATED IN DAVAO WHERE THE LARGEST COCA COLA FILLING STATION IS LOCATED. THE MAIN REASON WAS MY CANCER OP IN 2001. WHAT HAPPENED AS EMPLOYMENT THERAPY BECAME A PROFITABLE COMPANY NOW. I’M A CANCER SURVIVOR FOR 20 YEARS NOW. THANKS TO KHS. KHS-KLAUS HELEN SCHWEINHEIM
Tell something about your role/position in KHS Trucking?
I AM THE OWNER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF KHS. MY HUSBAND IS A CONSULTANT.
What was your proudest moments at work?
KHS Trucking Services has a 4 star rating given by Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. for our high satisfactory performance in safety, service, quality and compliance. WE ARE VERY SURPRISED AND PROUD BECAUSE KHS IS NOT THE ONLY TRUCK SERVICES WHICH IS MANAGED BY LOCALS. FOR US THAT MEANS WE HAVE MADE LESS MISTAKES, LOL.
How would you describe yourself as a “boss-lady”?
THE BOSS-LADY DOESN’T DO EVERYTHING ALONE HERE, TOO. I AM SUPPORTED BY THE OPERATIONS MANAGER, TEAM LEADER, FIELD SUPERVISORS AND SECRETARY, AT LEAST IN THE COMMERCIAL SERVICES SECTOR, BANKS AND INSURANCE. THE BOSS-LADY IS ALREADY VERY, VERY RARE IN THE TRUCKING BUSINESS. AT LEAST, THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE SHOULD BE THE SAME AS OF THE OPERATIONS MANAGER. YOU HAVE TO ACQUIRE IT QUICKLY OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE TRAINED VERY QUICKLY BY MECHANICS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SHOW A CLEAR EDGE, WITHOUT ASSISTANCE BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT AND WITH BETTER ARGUMENTS, WE ACHIEVE MOST COMPLETELY AND VERY FAST.
How do you promote “female empowerment” at work?
WE ARE STILL MILES AND GENERATIONS AWAY FROM IT, THERE IS LACK OF TRAINING. ONLY THE UPPER LEVEL IS ABLE TO GIVE THEIR CHILDREN A QUALIFIED TRAINING. IN THE 27 YEARS WE ARE HERE, WE HAVE TRAINED TO MANY HOUSE GIRLS. SORRY BUT NOBODY GRADUATED. TWO WERE HALF A YEAR BEFORE GRADUATION TO BECOME A TEACHER AND WENT TO DUBAI. ANOTHER WANTED TO BE A NURSE IN EUROPE. THERE IS ALSO A PLEASURE OF CREATING A FEMALE BOSS. MY HUSBAND HAS ALREADY A GENERAL AGENT IN HIS COMPANY FOR 12 YEARS.
What are your main interests outside of the office or work?
WE LIKE TO TRAVEL, AND OFTENTIMES. WE FLY TO GERMANY 2X A YEAR AND EVERY THREE MONTHS, WE ALSO START OUR DISTANCE TRAVELS THERE. IT’S MORE COMFORTABLE AND FASTER FOR US THAN FROM HERE. AND I CAN BOOK THE CLASS THAT WE LIKE AND MOSTLY NONSTOP. HOWEVER, DOMESTIC FLIGHTS BECOME DIFFICULT UNLIKE YEARS AGO-NONSTOP DAVAO-BORACAY-BOHOL-PALAWAN ETC. NOW IT’S ONLY MANILA AND CEBU. THERE ARE SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN THE WORLD WE’VE VISITED SINCE 1992 BUT THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME SWEET HOME-DAVAO, PHILIPPINES. DAVAO LIFE IS HERE, OUR SECOND HOME IS KÖLN, GERMANY.
